Derrick's work at ellwood Evidence focuses on the collection, aggregation, and interpretation of evidence from multiple sources. He performs research and develops tools to acquire and process evidence from novel sources such as proprietary filesystems and mobile chat applications.
His specific casework has involved mobile and social media collection and analysis, investigating and assisting in the coordination of the response to a cybersecurity breach, digital image forensics including the reconstruction of an image editing process, determining the date and provenance and establishing the veracity of digital documents, as well as metadata analysis and aggregation of e-mails, Microsoft Office documents, and Exif data.
In addition, Derrick regularly assists with litigation support for ellwood Evidence clients. He applies his skills in data management and programming to analyze, verify, and prepare data sets for processing and production.
